Chick Fil A Cheese Sauce Recipe

Hey y'all, it's Andrew and Jon-Michael here, and we really, really love Chick-fil-A.

So when we heard that some locations were introducing a new cheese dipping sauce, we had absolutely no choice but to go try it.

According to Chick-fil-A, the cheese sauce is available at 436 locations in the Midwest and Northeast, although it has also been tested across the South.

The sauce, made from a mix of parmesan and Swiss cheeses, costs $1.19 and comes in a three-ounce serving — so while it's not free like the other one-ounce sauces, you do get a LOT of sauce for basically a dollar.

Most importantly, though, how does it actually taste?

Andrew's thoughts: The cheese sauce tastes really good — better than Chick-fil-A Sauce in my opinion. It wasn't hot when we tried it because we had to transport it back to the office, but it was still a really dippable consistency at room temperature. It's basically a queso without any spice, and if you're like me (obsessed with queso) you can dip just about anything on the menu in this sauce.

Jon-Michael's thoughts: By almost every measure, the new sauce is near-perfect. Unlike so many other cheese sauces out there, Chick-fil-A's tastes and looks like real cheese (because it is!), and its off-white color reminds me of the queso blanco I used to eat at Mexican restaurants in Arkansas growing up. And like Andrew said, its dippable consistency is spot-on. I tried the cheese sauce with both chicken nuggets and waffle fries, and IMHO, it goes much better with the nuggets.

Unsurprisingly, our coworkers were also more than willing to try the new sauce. Here's what they had to say:

"For fries, I definitely prefer something salty and tomato based. But the cheese sauce worked well with the nuggets! If I was a person who ate CFA regularly, like every day at lunch (which might have been my life at one point — don't judge), it would be a nice way to mix up my dipping life! But if I had to choose, I'd go classic sauce all the way. The end." —Jess Probus

"The new cheese sauce wasn't bad, but just too mild for my taste. It added nothing to my French fry eating ~experience~." —Patrice Peck

"The cheese wasn't what I expected, but it definitely served its purpose. I don't usually dunk my chicken in cheese, but when I do, it will definitely be in Chick-fil-A's new sauce!" —Morgan Murrell

"The Chick-fil-A cheese sauce was the perfect thickness — not so heavy that it weighs down and overtakes the flavors of your chicken or fry, but not so light that it's just runny cheese water. It was very tasty with sharp ~notes~ of parmesan. I'd eat it again." —Syd Robinson

"The Chick-fil-A queso was great. At first I was a little skeptical about eating queso with French fries instead of chips, but the two actually complimented each other really well. It kind of reminded me of the Ritz cracker/cheese dip from my childhood, which isn't meant to be shady at all: I loved that snack, and this queso left me feeling nostalgic and hungry for more. It's also a huge bonus that Chick-fil-A's dip is made with real cheese. Now I'm wondering what other foods I should be pairing with queso…" —Spencer Althouse

So, in conclusion, we'd 12/10 recommend trying it for yourself. Just check the Chick-fil-A app to make sure your location has it before heading to the store. ✌️
